The outfit posts have been a little slow over the last few weeks. I've been busy getting ready for the 3rd Fashion show fundraiser on Thursday September 19th, 2013. Find The Lady Team on Facebook by clicking here. 

We have Helene Campbell speaking at our event who was on the Ellen Degeneres show. We have a red carpet, appetizers, signature drinks, live music, an artisans marketplace and a few more surprises for the night of the show! Come join us for an unforgettable evening as we raise money for Cystic Fibrosis and Give 2 Live. The Artisan Marketplace starts at 6:00pm and the Fashion show starts at 8:00pm. If you would like tickets you can purchase them from the button on the right hand side or from any member of the lady team. We have 9 local fashion houses and 20 volunteer male and female models!

Kinsmen Club

I wore this to a Kinsmen Club dinner. Kinsmen is a community club, which is very involved with fundraising and events in Canada. They're a wonderful group of dedicated people who support cystic fibrosis research as one of their main charities.

One of my best friends received a community award from the Kinsmen Club last night in honour of all her hard work she does to raise money for cystic fibrosis research. She is the director of the CF for CF fashion show which has raised over $60,000 in support of CF research. She is one power house woman! 

What a great evening to be part of. The highlight of the evening was seeing my best friend get such a wonderful award, for helping a cause that is so near and dear to my heart! She is a wonderful lady.

Incase you missed the show, here's a sneak peak of what the Lady Team + Nik (13 of my girlfriends and Nik) did this summer. We had 500 guests, and raised over $27,000 for cystic fibrosis foundation of canada. We were able to start a new 'sponsor a family' program and helped a family going through transplant. It was an amazing night. Not to mention the 8 fashion houses were hot hot hot! 

I'm off to get some halloween decorations for the party on friday. Halloween is my favourite time of year! I thought about going as a zombie....but as my mother once told me...you always want to look cute on halloween. She speaks from experience when one year she went as the three little pigs with her two girlfriends. This year me and my boyfriend are going as Sandy and Danny from Grease. I like to go blonde on halloween (last year I was cinderella) since I probably never will get to in real life.

Fashion Show 2011

Did you miss the memo? I did...It's July 11th ALREADY!

I am sitting on the screened in porch enjoying the garden and pond view, when I went to get up from the couch, I was stuck.

Leather, humidity, legs and dresses make for a great oppurtunity for legs to stick and squish and be PEEEEELED off leather couch.

That being said, I am NOT complaining. Summer is far to short, and far to gorgeous and I far way rather the heat heat heat then a sparkle of snow.

I've been spending a lot of time designing for the Fashion show on Thursday August 25th.
Whaaaat fashion show is this you may ask? Me and 13 beautiful fashionista, inspiriting women, (dubbed the Lady Team) put on. Did I mention we're all under the age of 25? Super stars. 


We raised over $30,000 for the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation last year. This is our second annual event, and if you thought last year was good. Wait until you see this year. It's going to knock your wedge sandals off...yeah I went there.

June Bug Jewellery Show

If you've noticed that my blog has been a little lax lately it's because I'm running around with both ends of my candle stick lit!

I've been trying to get enough jewellery built and starting my new jewellery line for this summer, which I'm presenting at the Jewellery show on June 11th and 12th! Less then a month away! When....you know spring is here, and summer summer is just around the corner, when you're walking down the city streets, and you never want to reach your destination because the sun is beautiful and the weather is awesome...
When....kids are pumping the music with the tops down in their cars, laughing away without a care in the world, because exams are done.

Diary of WannaBe-Model

Here's to my first guest blogger, Kendra. Kendra is a gorgeous babe who has her own fashion inspiration blog, which happens to be called Fashinspiration (she's wicked cute like that ha) Check it out here. Thanks Ken for writing such a GREAT post. Enjoy readers :) 

I guess I’ll start off by saying how excited I am to be doing a guest blog post for a very talented fellow fashion blogger and a close friend. I have been interested in fashion for most of my life, with out even realizing it. I recently went through some of my old Barbie dolls to give them away and found all the outfits that I made for them when I was younger. I may have played with Barbies a little longer than I care to admit, but even back then I thought I could make the outfits better than Mattel… I was wrong, but I tried! And for most of my life I have been of the mindset that if I can’t find an item of clothing that I want, I try to make it instead. Then there is the mild obsession with models designer clothing. Needless-to-say, when Hattie emailed me last year and told me she was doing a fashion show to raise money for cystic fibrosis, and she wanted me to be in it, I jumped at the chance.

It was so much fun last summer to get together with a group of awesome girls to practice our model walks. I’ll admit, most of us were terrified with the prospect of putting on heels and strutting down the runway in front of hundreds of people, but we knew we were doing it for a good cause! We walked back and forth across a room while a model coach told us what we were doing wrong. Oh the judgment you have to face everyday as a wannabe model. She taught us how to do proper turns and poses, and we did them – awkwardly at first – but getting better each time. When we finally started going for fittings the week before, it really sunk in how excited I was for this fashion show.

A couple of days before the show, another friend of mine asked me to play a role in an independent film and I agreed (I like to keep myself busy). The film was being shot in an outdoor swimming pool that we did not “technically” have the rights to use. This required some fence hopping, which I’m not proud to say, I was no stranger to. The night before the fashion show, we went to do some filming. I got over the fence ok, but when I was going back over I was consumed with thoughts of a story my friend had told me about someone getting their finger stuck while fence hopping. I jumped prematurely from way too high, and landed flat on both my feet. I felt the pain immediately but hoped it wasn’t as bad as I thought it was. We filmed one more scene and then when I went to walk I realized that I couldn’t.

At the doctors the next day my face was raw from crying all night, not from pain, but from disappointment. The doctor even felt the need to ask me if I was suicidal. Seriously! No, not suicidal, but pretty damn stupid to have damaged my feet the night before I was supposed to walk in a fashion show.

I was not able to walk in the show… crutches were not a hot accessory that season. But I went anyway, and hobbled around the crowded space. The show was packed, so much so that I - on crutches - almost couldn’t get a seat! Now that’s a full house. It was an amazing show, and the only good thing about rendering myself unable to walk, was that I got to relax and enjoy seeing my friends on stage during such a wonderful night of fashion (as opposed to freaking out back stage with them.)

I don’t know the details, but it looks like we might be doing it again this year. And having witnessed it once, I can guarantee a great show. Only this time, I’m putting myself on house arrest for the week leading up to the show. However I cannot guarantee that I won’t injure myself on the runway… such is the life of the uncoordinated.

I'm currently working away on the Cystic Fibrosis Fashion Show Fundraiser for the end of August! It's a lot of work, but it is going to be a lot of fun. We booked a venue this week, and we've been putting together an amazing committee of girls who are all so keen to help out and raise some money to find a cure for CF.

I've also been working on custom pieces for prom. Prom season is just around the corner. I was looking at all the beautiful dresses online at etsy.com today. They had a feature of a lot of unique dresses. Wouldn't it be great to re-live prom night again? There are not many occasions where you get to dress up in a flirty, fun dress and dance the night away. Although next week I'll get to dress up. I'm going to high tea next week at a hotel downtown. I'm going to wear a vavavoom dress, and vintage hat, perhaps a british accent will transpire as well for the afternoon?
