edgy romantic

Rings: Gifts
Bangle: Belfountain
Jean Vest: Chez Thrift
Maxi Dress: Winners
Hair flower: Ripped off an old hat
Necklace: Vintage
Socks: Betsey Johnston, gift
Boots: Thrifted

How this outfit came to be Hattified: It's hard to layer up and add different elements to make your outfit more interesting since it's beginning to get warm out. So my go to thing...accessorize. Make your outfit pop with that bright bangle, and that rockin' necklace.

Why this outfit works: It's edgy with the jean vest but it's feminine with the pearls and long dress. I also love the stripes of the dress. Keeps it edgy, yet the length keeps it's romantic.

Another version: Try a jean jacket and a black belt to add emphasis to your waist.

Be sure to keep checking back on my jewellery website. May is Cystic Fibrosis month. a museum hunting we shall go

Spent yesterday inside at the anthropology museum. The first nations exhibits were amazing. Well worth the trip to see the original carvings and totem poles of the northern and southern indigenous people. We hopped on a tour and spent the afternoon wandering around the museum.
The last few days have been rainy, sorry for the no outfit posts.
Of course the day after I give my parents all my winter gear to pack and take back to Ontario, I need gloves today, as it is freezing!
We head home on Friday and I think it's suppose to keep raining until then. Hope Ontario is nice and sunny! We seem to be such the weather chasers these days.

I had some photos left over from Easter weekend in Tofino.

florals for spring

Cardigan: new to me, from cousin Christy
Jewellery: Hattitude, my own line of jewellery check it out here
Romper: Vintage, Used House of Vintage, Vancouver
Tights: Urban Outfitters
Shoes: Vintage, Guelph

How this outfit came to be Hattified: I wanted to wear this romper, since I just got it the other day while shopping with my mama. Mustard is my favourite colour... thus
it made sense to pair it with my mustard tights and belt. To add another layer and Hattify this outfit real good, I added the texture of the lace cardigan, (thanks christilina) and the long neutral coloured necklace.

Why this outfit works: It's not too much mustard. Just enough mustard in my opinion. I could have went all out and put a mustard sweater on, but I refrained myself and just added the beige with lace cardigan to add another texture and interesting effect.

Another version: Wear it with brown tights and a brown belt to calm this look down. Don't forget to wear your Hattitude jewels. If you're wearing Hattitude this weekend out and about around town, tweet me @hattitudejewels of you wearing it, or email me hattitude at live . com

Tonight (which is last night, I do my posts one day in advance) we are going to see Joel Plaskett. I'm excited because it will be the third main concert venue in Vancouver that we get to cross off our list. My favourite so far is of course, the commodore ballroom, where we saw Bombay Bicycle Club. It has my heart, through and through and through (get it? Joel's song? ha-ha).

Yesterday was one of the first days that I sat out on my balcony and soaked in the sun while staring out at the water, reading canadian book title, Origins of Species. Have you read it? Do you have any good book suggestions? I'm always looking for some.

Hard to imagine we are going home to Ontario, in 6 days! Friendlies from home, tell me it's nice there? I left in the winter, and am still picturing you all stuck in snow parkas with crisp white snow around you. Oy.

Spring Shopping

Doing some spring browsing this weekend?

Check out my store. All the jewellery are hand designed and created by me, Hattie. I take vintage and recycled pieces and re-work them in to new modern designs.

Whether it's a 1940's antique locket given by a soldier to his wife before he headed off to war, or a 1970's funky earring worn and rocked out at a disco dance... every piece of jewellery holds a unique story for other generations to love.

i like to wear ice cream cones

Dress/skirt: urban outfitters
Shoes: Thrifted
Tights: Winners
Necklace: Hattitude Jewels
rings: flea market and spanks clothing (fox ring, isn't it adorable!)
Belt: My mom's
Cardigan: Exopsure, Vancouver

How this outfit came to be Hattified: I started with the patterned cardigan, doesn't it look like little ice cream cones? Then paired it with the next thing in my closet that matched. The accordion skirt is the perfect colour. The two different textures of the shirt/dress and tights make up the other two patterns in my 'rule of three' that i've been following as of late.

Why this outfit works: The cardigan matches the skirt, with the patterned tights all in the same colour palette. This is key when mixing patterns.

Another version: Lose the belt and replace it with a light beige colour. Ditch the tights and opt for bare legs to bring the outfit more neutral. Pair with flat shoes.

Last night we went to an italian restaurant. Isn't date night your favourite night of the week? Our food was so delicious. I'm going to miss living in Vancouver (9 days till ontario) eating out whenever we wish, with every food ethnicity at our finger tips (although my pants are probably going to like it more).

What are your weekend plans? It's getting so nice out, all the flowers and cherry blossoms are blooming. The city is becoming just stunning. Walking along the beach is a must for this weekend. If you get to wearing your Hattitude this weekend, send me a photo! I'd love to see you wearing it.
