snap shots of my apartment

Here's a little sneak in to our apartment. Snap shots of our first place we have called home together. We've been here about seven months and I just LOVE the place. I did not post any of our bedroom (my favourite decorated room in the house!) or my studio. I'll have to post those next week. I love taking peeks into other people's lives and homes. Hope you enjoy these tidbits.

Curling was a huge success on the weekend! You know you're Canadian when, eh? Has anyone else curled? It's actually really fun and challenging! I have a huge bruise on my elbow from it. Curling can get intense!

Neat fact for this week, we leave for Barbados in exactly 14 days. Gosh I am so excited. Follow me on instagram @hattitudejewels for all the latest outfit finds that I'm taking on our trip! I can't wait to go South. Did you sneak away for a little vacation this winter? Living in London, Ontario right in the snow belt this year has proved that I need a sunny destination ASAP! It is ALWAYS snowing here.
Follow me on facebook where I post all about my online bridal jewellery boutique and fun photos of my cat :)

reading nook

Here's a little peek into our reading nook. It's one of my favourite places to be in our apartment. Who wouldn't want to be surrounded by DIY fashion, and costume jewellery books?

Tomorrow is one of my lovely family child hood friend's wedding. I cannot wait to be apart of her special day. They have been working so hard on this wedding, I just know it's going to be out of this world. Wishing everyone a happy wedding weekend!

pale shades of floral

Necklace: Coming SOON (as in tomorrow, thumbs up) in my SHOP
Shirt: Chez Thrift, Bolton
Jeans: American Eagle
Shoes: Converse
Earrings: Coming SOON (tomorrow too) in my SHOP
* note all earrings for sale in my shop, are cleaned with alcohol after worn for photo shoot
** necklaces are mostly worn only for photo shoot so customers can see what outfits to pair them with

How this outfit came to be Hattified: I wanted to wear this pretty little floral pastel top. What better way to Hattify it then to pair it with all white and put some neon shoes with it. The shoes put it right on par with being totally Hattified. Put in a little hair flower, presto.

Why this outfit works: It works because of all the white, white tank top, white shoes, white hair flower. The green neon shoes although in a different colour palette are still green like the shirt which at certain points has neon in it as well.

Another version: Try it with a jean skirt, with your blouse tied up around your waist. Kick it with some white ked shoes or tennis shoes to change the converse shoe look up.

Tomorrow we are going to get our keys to our new apartment! I am so excited. Beautiful windows, an older condo building, right near the park. I am beginning to fall in love with London (Ontario). Who knew? The best part about our apartment besides the wrap around windows in living room/kitchen.... they have gutted a 4 story victorian home beside the condo building and turned it in to a swimming pool attached to the condo building. All the original windows, the old brick work is all exposed and beautiful in this swimming area! It's going to be a fun day tomorrow. We're even moving some new furniture in that we've collected at flea markets and thrift stores this spring.

Loving vintage since 1987.

Things in my apartment that make me smile....and how I came to love vintage.
this is my home

i like typing on type writers and collecting vintage teacups
my two loves. vintage fashion. and vintage teas.
Skeleton key
so beautiful
Type writers. The neatest thing since sliced bread.
rotary phones are bad ass.
Things in my apartment that are cool and neat.

My glass antique cabinet that I got as a little girl...I was probably 7.

Instead of a wardrobe with toys tucked inside from Ikea, I had a glass wardrobe to display photos and for things not to collect dust.

Instead of visiting Disney world as a child for a family trip, me and my brothers were dragged to pennsylvania to see the architect, Frank Lloyd Wright's homes.

Instead of participating in sparks, brownies, (rainbows and skittles?) and whateverelsehaveyous as a little girl, My mom put me in art classes on a farm in a trailer.

I like to think because of the 'not so average' child hood that I lead, is how I developed my passion for everything old, vintage and surprisingly beautiful things.
Perhaps with all these outlets in my young life, I was destined to love vintage.

Loving vintage since 1987. The year this wild child was born.

Today I am headed to Angela Chen, OR fashion show (in studio) presenting her collection. It's LG Fashion Week in Toronto. It's the first show I've been to. Kind of excited. Will post photos later.
