buttons and stripes

What I wore:
Loafers: Walking on a cloud
Dress: Vintage, Chez Thrift
Headscarf: vintage

It's been up and down, up and down for the weather here in London. Some days I go out in wool socks and end up sweating buckets, and other days I go out in a skirt and am freezing, needing my wool knee high socks back! It's a tricky business this fall stuff, but today I got it right. It was a lovely warm day today. I love love the buttons on this dress and the stripes. I am getting excited for the layering of autumn and the beautiful leaves changing.

My cousin has been visiting so we've been doing up London, Ontario taking her to the local vintage stores, the cool little cafes, and the beautiful parks! How was your weekend?

Summer is all wrapped up, so that means Book Club is back in action. Up next for our book club is The Vanishing Act of Esme Lennox. Has anyone read it? Also on my book shelf to read is the Game of Thrones series. I'm a huge mythical fantasy reader and have been holding off from watching the show so I can read the books first. In our new apartment we have a little reading nook, (rocking slider chair and all) where I've been spending the better part of my weekends. A total book worm comes to mind.

wardrobe stylist sneak peek photos

Kestra the make up artist www.makeupbycalla.com
Samantha the photographer
Mila the Model from Fayme Agency
I styled a photo shoot last week in Toronto. Here's some shots I took of one of the locations from the shoot. There were three different locations. It was so much fun. I absolutely loved being the wardrobe stylist. Who would not want to dress someone up in three different outfits, wearing my jewellery and accessories that I designed?

I love this chipped jade necklace I put on Mila for the first location. This outfit was very Mad Men inspired. Samantha has some other work you can check out by clicking here. She was such a great photographer to work with. The make up artist Kestra did a wicked job with Mila's hair and make up. The model, Mila was so lovely, can you believe she's only in grade 12? What a stunner! I'll post more photos once I get the professional ones. Here are the outtakes.
Have a great weekend! Shop this jewellery look here.  Tip for the weekend, it's all in the accessories!

rompin' around

Romper: thrifted
Vest: thrifted
Loafers: Walking on a cloud
Jewellery: Hattitude Jewellery
How this outfit came to be Hattified: It was very hot out today. This jean vest seemed to add a little punch to the outfit....but in all seriousness it's Hattified due to the jewels. You gotta rock the accessories to have a smashing outfit I think, especially in the hot weather when it's hard to do the layers.

Why it works: The shoes say it all. I'm a die hard fan of loafers. I should probably be investing in some more.

Another version: For Fall, the more chillier nights, pair it with a jean jacket, and some black tights, put on some black ankle booties and you have a killer look for autumn!

Tomorrow I am headed back to Toronto to style a photo shoot. There is three locations and I get to design and conjure up three different outfits for each shoot. It's basically my dream job. You get to dress up real life barbie dolls in all sorts of clothes. It was a lot of fun dreaming up what should be worn with each outfit. My favourite was doing the jewellery. I think it's so important to every outfit. It's all in the details...the little details that can take an okay outfit, to a great outfit.

Also... guess what? My condo building has...a community herb garden! How cute is that? I'm not sure whether I can use it yet...but I mean it's right there by the visitors parking...so I don't see why not?

mustard and red dress

Dress: Gift from England
Vest: Thrifted
Belt: Mom's old one
Shoes: Vintage
Earrings: London ON festival
Bag: Thrifted

How this outfit came to be Hattified: I think this outfit is so fun. I love wearing vests in this transitional season. Old man vintage vests are my favourite. They will be frequenting the blog a lot in the next month. This is a really gorgeous dress that I received as a gift all the way from London, ENGLAND. It's more fancy but I had no where fancy to wear it to, so I dumbed it down with the vest. Add the witch like shoes, braided belt and stripped socks and you have yourself a casual outfit.

I wanted to venture out to take an outfit shot around our condo complex in London, ON but there were lots of work men outside today and I still get that awkwardness setting up a tripod and taking photos. I really don't think it will ever go away. Delightfully Tacky suggested a great excuse for taking photos when someone asks "what the heck are you doing?" I always just say, "I'm working on a photography course assignment" rather then spend time explaining to them what a style blog is and how I pair my outfits with the jewellery I hand make and sell online. It can be quite a mouthful and some people just plain think it's weird. SO here is another rooftop shot. I imagine there will be lots to come in the future. Tomorrow I'm posting a DIY that I did in our new apartment. Our place has really come together this last week. It looks as if we've lived here a year!

a new rooftop

Jumper: vintage
cardigan: Vancouver clothing shop
Boots: thrifted
Headband: clothing swap
Helloooo chikitas! Ah it's so nice to be back to the blogosphere. I moved to London, ON last week. These photos are taken from my new rooftop patio. Isn't it a dream?

I am currently sitting in my office (yes I have my own studio space and office insert excited girlish yelp here) as the sun is shining through. We have one of the most bright and light apartments I have ever seen. I love sitting with the afternoon sun coming in to my studio work space. It makes working on my jewellery so much more pleasant. I'm actually able to see all the wonderful colours of the beads.

It has turned a little chilly here. It's the first day I'm wearing tights. Fall is here. I hope it warms back up! I'm such a heat baby.
I wanted to wear this cardigan, since I just love the pattern so much. I love pattern on Pattern so I paired it with a smaller pattern not to over take it. Of course I had my trusty brown and black purse to complete the look, but it would not be a Hattified outfit unless I threw something in my hair.
Yes, I know I have a rip in my stockings...it adds flare, no? ha

Fall vests

headscarf: vintage
jean skirt: ...
Vest: thrifted, chez thrift
necklace: available in my shop here
I like wearing vests come September, since it seems to be one of the only months I can wear one without a sweater (I get really cold, really often). A vest is a great way to transition your summer wardrobe into fall.
Sorry for the lack of posts. I move officially to London, ON tomorrow. I am so excited. My Manfriend is already there. He starts school tomorrow. He's pursuing his masters in archeology, (yes, it's swoon worthy...indiana jones style? ha). The biggest thing, surprise, surprise has been packing my wardrobe. Oy...it's too big for my own good!

I'm off to run my studio shop hours. Great for gifts, anniversary presents or just to treat yourself.
If you're looking for some accessories for an outfit come on by, from 5-8pm. Or if you would like a custom piece of jewellery made for a shirt, dress or skirt, let me know! Custom orders are always welcome. www.GotHattitude.com

Check out the bracelet I designed for one bride, more photos to come of her whole wedding party that I designed all the bracelets for.

I hope everyone had a wonderful long weekend. The next photos you will see of my outfits and jewels will be some new spots around London! Hopefully a virtual tour of my place is in order soon too!
