Peace love and happiness

Rings: vintage, gifts
Necklace: Hattitude jewellery designed by me
Dress: Thrifted
Headband DIY from delightfully tacky

I went to a hippie themed "Caledon stock" festival on the weekend. It was a fundraiser for cystic fibrosis. What an amazing turn out. It was out of this world what the farm was transformed in to. I imagine it resembled woodstock. This is what I managed to pull from my closet to try to be a hippie for an evening.

I made this necklace using some of the pieces I got from Vancouver. The raven I bought from a man on the side of the street who hand carved it. It has abalone jewels as the eyes. I cherish this piece and am SO happy with the way the necklace turned out. I even wore a peace ring on my thumb. I got this DIY flower crown idea from delightfully tacky. Thanks for making such a great DIY post Elizabeth! What a great summer floral headpiece to have for the summer!

I'll post more pictures of the actual event, but for now, here's my outfit for the evening.
Hope your monday coffees are tasting mighty fine this morning!

Ships Ahoy

Romper: thrifted
Hat: Thrifted
Scarf:Vintage
Ships Ahoy necklace: For sale in my shop here
This Ships Ahoy necklace is available in my shop here

Yesterday I was at ROGERS tv doing an interview for Along the Way television show. It was perfect timing, as it was my 2 year anniversary since my double lung transplant. The interview was all about my life growing up with Cystic Fibrosis, my double lung transplant at 22 and what I'm doing with my life, and my jewellery business,(Hattitude) that I design and create all the pieces myself. It was a long day, so to celebrate the anniversary we booted it up to the cottage afterwards.

Is there any better feeling then the sand between your toes? Running to the ice cream store? Eating fresh picked strawberries from the cottage?

Have a great weekend and if you get a chance pop on over to Vogue or Bust and enter my Hattitude necklace giveaway and see how the beautiful Alexandra, a Vancouver blogger styled my piece.

a museum hunting we shall go

Spent yesterday inside at the anthropology museum. The first nations exhibits were amazing. Well worth the trip to see the original carvings and totem poles of the northern and southern indigenous people. We hopped on a tour and spent the afternoon wandering around the museum.
The last few days have been rainy, sorry for the no outfit posts.
Of course the day after I give my parents all my winter gear to pack and take back to Ontario, I need gloves today, as it is freezing!
We head home on Friday and I think it's suppose to keep raining until then. Hope Ontario is nice and sunny! We seem to be such the weather chasers these days.

Off to Tofino

I am off to Tofino this morning with my family who are visiting from Ontario!
I cannot wait to see Tofino and the cathedral forests. I have heard so much about these ginormous trees!

In the meantime please excuse my lack of outfit posts. I promise i'll have some gems for you when I get back (my mama is here so we'll be shopping up a storm in kits, and Granville st.)
Any suggestions for some lovely haunts I would love to hear them.

I went to a book store that was having a closing sale. I scored a few fiction books, (finished half blood blues, and on to The origins of species)  and a couple DIY books. One was about salvaging antiques and refurbishing odds and ends (can't wait to delve into this one come the summer time with flea markets). The other book I got, which I cannot wait to get home to my fabric trunk and start creating from is a DIY fashion book.
I love reading all the other blogs and seeing their 'do it yourself,' but it will be nice to have some ideas situated in one book.

It's suppose to be sunny here in Vancouver this week, hope Spring has come to where ever you are. The flowers are just EVERYWHERE out here my mother cannot stop exclaiming over them.
Here's to hoping to good weather for the island adventures.

Indian Look out Point

After a night on the town, what better way to cure anything, then to go for an intense 2 hour hike through the woods? Sunday Funday, right? We did just this thing after our Saturday night soiree. Sunday was an intense 6 hour day, getting to and from, and up and down, the area of Deep Cove.
Green Lantern?
hopefully this shows the beauty and depth of the forest hike
still learning the camera for when it's dark in forests? hmm

Deep Cove is the cutest little sea side town. Filled with ice cream, families, picnics, and playgrounds. We ate our packed lunch on a park bench over looking the ocean. We then stumbled upon the boy scouts and girl guides built path. Sounds easy right?...Wrong. It took us an hour of steep hiking to get to Indian Look out Point. We had no idea if what was at the other end of this trail would be worth it. Those are usually the best ingredients for the best outcomes though, aren't they? As for the view.
Out. Of. This. World. The photos really do not do it justice.

I'd like to also take a moment to remember a girl from my home town, Heather. She battled a rare form of cancer all this past year and lost her fight this weekend. My thoughts go out to her family. What a wonderful, charming and sweet 19 year old girl she was. A warrior through and through. Sleep well Heather, you no longer have to fight so darn hard. Rest in Peace my friend.
