moonrise kingdom

We saw Moonrise Kingdom this weekend and went out for Sushi on Friday night, date night.
Have you seen Moonrise kingdom, the new Wes Anderson film?
It was strangely romantic, wonderfully whimsical and absolutely fabulous.
I love the era it's in, of course, being a 60's loving girl. It's just such a beautiful, well done movie. Very avant garde and artsy. We had to search for a movie theatre that was playing it. If it's playing near you, and you love Wes Anderson films (Royal Tenenbaums, Life Aquatic, Fantastic Mr. Fox) you'll really enjoy this young love story. He's so quirky in his directing.

Thanks again to everyone who came out and supported the pop up show on Saturday. www.GotHattitude.com. I still have a number of awesome pieces left over, so I've been toying with the idea of Etsy. Has anyone else been on etsy? What do they think of it? I know as a customer of Etsy (I buy ALL my christmas presents on that site) I love it...but wondering what it's like from a store's perspective.

a little itty cowbow hat

Sweater: Thrifted, Guelph
Shirt: Banana Republic
Shoes: Thrifted, Guelph
Skirt: Thrifted (altered), Bolton, Chez Thrift
Belt: Mama Dunstan
Earrings: Hattitude Jewellery
Headband: Blogger Vancouver Sale

How this outfit came to be Hattified: I started with the headband that I got at the Vancouver blogger sale.  This shirt was the only red I had in my wardrobe that I packed from Ontario to Vancouver. I threw on the red shirt, and paired it with polkadot skirt. You know how I love my pattern on patterns.

Why this outfit Works: The polka dot pattern in the shirt, reflects the patterned polka dots in the skirt. The bow around my neck is all I needed. I put on some dangly earrings. Brown tights, brown sweater, brown belt and brown vintage shoes make the outfit neutral.  No skirt is complete without a belt.

Another version: Wear it with just a plain red tee shirt, or white shirt. Throw on a Hattitude necklace.

It was quite windy yesterday. We started off going to the Anthropology museum today at the university of British Columbia. Anyone been there? My man friend is super stoked for it.  As we watched the bus drive past us, since we were at the wrong stop (we're really starting to get the hang of the transit system...not) we realized that the museum closed early. Silly gooses. We found ourselves at a record store, always a favourite destination and then stumbled into a used DVD store. Isn't it funny our children's generation will never experience the disappointment of going to the movie rental store and the DVD being out? Weird eh? I've never seen The Beach, with Leo. Any good? It's on the agenda tonight for movie watching.

Nomination catch up.

I just saw True Grit. Ever since the Oscar nominations came out, I've only been watching (with the exception of Parks and Recreation, Modern Family, the Office and Glee....ha) the nominated films, which you can check out by clicking here. As for movies or rentals, nominated movies are only allowed to be rented or seen in theatre until after the awards ceremony.

Total thumbs up for True Grit. I think Jeff Bridges might have my vote on best actor. Not sure if it's worthy of my vote for best picture yet. I'm still workin' through the list. It was a really great story though, amazing acting and all around great film to sit and watch on a Friday afternoon.

I'm excited to see James Franco and Anne Hathaway host the Oscars. They have been doing some cute skits. It's the first time in a number of years, I think something like 40 years, that the person who is hosting the Oscars at the same time is nominated for an award. Come on James Franco! (although sorry, Bridges gets my vote this year I think)

This is the Oscar Party I threw last year with some of my girlfriends.
KC, Brit, and Tash do it up in fur shawls on our red carpet!
My Mom joins in on the fun.

no pictures, no pictures!

Kath and Cait make a statment as they walk on the red carpet. The entrance to the party.
