I love these new jeans I got at the clothing swap this weekend. Every year me and my girlfriends have a clothing swap. We bring clothes we're sick of or don't want anymore and we all swap! Sometimes you find some real gems! Isn't the flare fun? The shoes are another gift from Christmas from the spanish clothing company KLING. They're genuis in their work. 

Ah Mondays! I've never been so busy as I am then this Monday. I have so many brides I'm trying to finish up as well as other people's custom work. The Hattitude studio is a bomb shell right now as I busily try to get all the jewellery orders out on time.

How this outfit came to be Hattified: I started with the skirt. The sweater looked great. Strip on strip. It added that punch that I love having in my outfits. The brown belt tied in my dark tights, and dark boots.  Only boots works with this outfit. I tried every shoe. Finally settling on these boots. Can you think of anything else that might have looked cute? 

Why this outfit works: The two patterns of stripes work together. The colours are all in the same palette. The boots make it not so oldy timey and the hat gives it an anne of green gables look...shabby chic styles. 

Another version: This skirt was hard to pull off. I needed the hat and the boots to make it work. If you don't have these things, try wearing a fedora hat with a nice pair of skinny dark jeans and a vintage sweater. 

I can feel the summer heat in the air! It's suppose to be 24 degrees on Thursday. Cottage season is just around the corner. What's your favourite thing to do in the Summer? 

I like the summer, for the summer weddings. I am currently working on 5 pieces for a wedding party in September. I love designing custom pieces to match certain outfits. 

Half way through the week! On saturday is my annual clothing swap with my girlfriends. Can't wait to shed some of my closet and gain some steals from them.

how to run a clothing swap

How to Run a Clothing swap 

1. Find a place to have the clothing swap

2. Get some clothing racks (we had three) 

3. Everyone hangs up their clothing, without the others knowing who's what

4. For as many pieces of clothing you brought, thats how many tags you got to write your name on

5. Everyone goes browsing. 

6. After browsing, everyone goes around with their allotted tags and places them on the clothing (we pierced them through the hangers) that they wish to take (jenny had a rating system, 3 star meant you REALLY wanted it)  

7. After the tag placing is done, if no one else has put tag on the item, it's automatically yours, but if there is more then one tag, you all try it on and the others vote on who it looks best on, or fits the best, etc (it usually always works out) 

8. IMPORTANT --- make sure you have a TON of hangers...they're key

Swaps are awesome, since you get new goodies and spring clean your closet!  

Jenny was the total winner of the night, with 43 new items. Score.
