an english inspired outfit

Crown Jewels necklace click here
Sweater: Winners
Kilt: Thrifted, Chez thrift, bolton
Necklace: Hattitude jewels www.GotHattitude.com
Collared shirt: Thrifted
Boots: Town shoes
Hat: Queen st. west, Toronto

It's now turned from summer heat wearing dresses to wearing my fleece tights, my kilts and warm sweaters! It sure was chilly today - 5 degrees! brrr.

This is a Europe inspired outfit. I just got back from spending two weeks in England. I just adore this floppy hat. Something about putting on a floppy hat and instantly your outfit goes from a 1950's grandmother's outfit and turns into a modern day fashion look. High boots are also important in this type of look. If you don't have knee high boots, that is shame and that must be remedied for this season! I think high boots modernize any outfit and are great for longer wool skirts, that COULD be frumpy but updates them to be stylish.
The three patterns on this outfit all work well together because they are either small pattern or they have a lot of cream or solid colour background to compliment it. Throwing on a statement necklace is also important when trying to modernize pullover sweaters and below the knee length skirts. Statement necklaces look awesome over collared shirts and pull over sweaters or cardigans. Do the buttons right up, leave your shirt un-tucked and wear a long cardigan with a statement necklace from my online shop www.GotHattitude.com with some jeans for a more casual look if you don't think you can pull of this english inspired outfit.

Are you all ready for Halloween? Tristan and I are decorating this weekend. We are having a halloween party and the guest of honours are Mr. and Mrs. skeleton and their family. They'll be residing at our dinner table for the evening. (Can you tell I love halloween and can't wait for next weekend's party, strobe lights, fog machine, dry ice, guts, blood and more!)

Tristan and I are having some troubles figuring out what we should be. Here's our last two year outfits.
What are you going as? Do you celebrate halloween? What was your favourite costume you ever dressed up as?

eighty's crop tops

Outfit details-
Skirt: Vintage
Top: Sentamentalist vintage clothing in London, ON
Purse: Vintage, Chez thrift, bolton
shoe: Seychelles

I love tie cropped eighty shirts, and long flowy skirts, I guess that's why I've featured two long skirts on the blog this week. This purse is one of my favourite items. I find the shape just really neat. I also love anything navy since it's such a hard colour to find. This is a very summery outfit and makes me enjoy the last day of August. I really don't want the summer to end, but I heard September is going to be hot, which is good, since August was a bit of a rip off with how chilly it was.

I spent all this week preparing for the wedding show that I am in next weekend. As well I spent this weekend hunting down fifties attire for a creative I'm working on, an engagement editorial shoot. I'm super excited for this shoot, as of course I love the fifties! We are shooting at an old retro diner and a carnival fair. FUN.

I hope you are all headed to somewhere with a beach this weekend with the heat! My lad and I have special anniversary plans out of town.
Have a wonderful long weekend.

p.s. don't forget to check out my bridal boutique click here or my regular jewellery online shop click here for some new vintage upcycled pieces that went up on the shop this week. I'm quite bug eyed for this necklace (wink wink) www.GotHattitude.com

win a kensie article of clothing

Outfit details:
Beach cover up: Kensie clothing
YOU COULD WIN A PIECE OF KENSIE CLOTHING
Necklace: handmade by me, Hattitude jewellery

Do you like this beach cover up? You could win it!

I was offered to do a review for Kensie clothing and I was thrilled to do one! I must say I am very happy with this beach cover up. I LOVE that is has sleeves on it to protect me from the sun. It is light and comfortable and I think looks great with all my bright bathing suits. I am just so impressed with this cover up. It's really lovely. I like the details of the tied bow on the legs, the pocket and I just seriously love how it has longer sleeves instead of straps to help keep me sun protected. It's so hard to find beach cover ups that have sleeve caps on them.

Kensie told me I could give a beach cover up away as well! Or anything else you want from this site. Click here and enter the password SOMETHING PRETTY. If you win you can choose ANYTHING on the site. Enter using the form below and next friday I will announce the winner.

p.s. it's now SUPER easy to enter my giveaways. I found a cool site that makes it easy for you to click and takes the work out of it, making it more likely YOU will win a piece of clothing from Kensie.
Enjoy and good luck.

a field full of sunflowers

Outfit Details:
Dress: Thrifted, The Sentamentalist, London ON
Belt: Mothers
Sweater: Grandmothers
Necklace: Handmade by me, Hattitude Jewellery

I thought my neighbours farm field was the perfect place to take this photo since this outfit reminds me of a farm girls dress. It reminds me of Little House on the prairie a little. My boyfriend bought me it last week at a local thrift store in London, Ontario and I've been living in it ever since. It just is so easy to wear. I love it with a little yellow anchor necklace that I handmade from a vintage brooch. Summer is still here after all!
My neighbours are the sweetest people and have a huge sunflower field and a beautiful wheat field. I was scouting out locations for my wedding creative shoot, that they have graciously allowed me to shoot in their backyard, that I am organizing for tomorrow afternoon. I can't wait for the shoot! I'm so excited to make some beautiful photos and create a love story through images. I am working with the very talented Samantha Hurley of samanthahurleyimaging.com photography.

Follow me on facebook to see sneak peeks from our wedding creative tomorrow!

Don't forget I am having a giveaway of two lovely handmade hair bows, by the lovely Victoria. Click here to see her facebook page for other cute hand sewn items. Check out the give away by Clicking here.

it's give away time!

Outfit details
Dress: Thrifted
Shoes: Winners
Earrings: Weezi, London, ON
Necklace: Handmade by me, Hattitude jewels

I love my hair bow. I think these hair bows are the perfect thing to throw on to complete an outfit. You know me, I am always one to accesorize rather then spend a fortune on a dress. I like to spend my money on accessorizing and I think hair clips and jewelry are the perfect item to do just that with.

It's been over a year I think since I posted a give away. This is the lovely Victoria Speirs she makes beautiful hand sewn items and specializes in baby blankets, burpies, pretty much all things babies! She is so talented and if you have not checked out her FB page where she sells all things handmade, including wedding buntings. She is really is a jack of all trades and I LOVE seeing her posts pop up on my facebook home feed. She is such a talent to the handmade community!
Here's how to win these awesome hair bows, similar to the one she made me in my outfit post above.
