Betty Draper style for Fall

Shirt: Vintage dress
Pants: Vintage
Belt: Mothers
Loafers: Walking on a cloud
Necklace: Shadow of the Wind, Available in my shop here

I love bringing back my high waisted pants for the fall. I'm especially loving the peak-a-boo ankles this season, cropped high waisted pants around the ankles. What is it about loafers that make me feel so good?

I've been watching a LOT of Mad Men. I'm currently obsessed! I started watching season 1 last week and am already on to season 2. (I know how could I have NOT watched Mad Men until this summer?!) I absolutely am in love with the fashions. I was downtown Toronto yesterday and went vintage shopping for some 50's or 60 dresses, I figure I'll dumb them down with a jean jacket and some converse shoes, or cowboy boots. But they are just all SO pretty. I also love Betty Draper's casual looks. Gosh her pants and sweaters are out of this world! The early 60's is my inspiration for Autumn this year. I'm going to try to emulate the 'Betty Draper'.

How has your last week been? I feel as if I have a million things to do, and only 7 more days to do it in! Don't forget next Tuesday and Wednesday is the studio shop hours for Hattitude jewellery. Come by and see the new designs. Spruce up your accessories wardrobe with some new Autumn jewels! Check out my twitter or my facebook page for updates.

let's do the hippie hippie shake

I'm doing a guest post over on Sarah K's blog, Ocean in my bedroom today. Head on over to check out this outfit, hippie hippie shake dress !

Below are some photos from my mom's surprise 57th birthday party (it's okay that I told you how old she was...she smiles about it instead)

The theme was a 'Mad Men' party. Old type writers, crank phones, olives, maraschino cherries, pretzels, and ritz crackers were to be found at this soiree. The criteria: Dress from the 50's or 60's era, bring your dancing shoes, and always have a glass of wine in hand (accompanied by a Pop eye look alike cigarette).

Thank you to everyone who came and made the whole event so grand.

My mom has had some really crummy birthday's the last few years. In 2010, I was hospitalized and 6 days later I had my double lung transplant. In 2011, I was hospitalized AGAIN on her birthday and 2 days later was told I had a tumour in my head..lymphoma cancer styles).

It had been a ROUGH two years, but we got through it, and my mom is the rock of this family. We thought we'd show her how much she means to us, and throw rocks at her...kidding, we showered her with love with 35+ people and rocked out to some 50's tunes, while jumping out of her living room yelling SURPRISE dressed in a time capsule warp.
Happy Birthday mom! May all your birthdays be forever like 2012!
