finding the perfect outfit is never an easy task

Things I learned in Washington DC...

1. having your cousin/basically sister there to help you pick out your outfit for a night out...

does not make things easier (hence the disaster bedroom above)

2. Guys from Georgia are southern gentlemen

3. America is the land of EVERYTHING from vanilla iced donuts (I've searched far and wide NO one has them anymore in Canada only sprinkled vanilla donuts) to ice cream that is shaped like tiny pebbles

4. Canadian stereotype of always liking maple syrup on things... was proven true this vacation ha

5. Listening and talking about American's different accents never seems to get old 

Americans say "eh snowman"...instead of "Ah snowman" they say "eh" instead of "ah" when saying "a snowman"

Most important

6. You should Always pack a sewing kit with you if you plan on travelling with vintage clothing...

(I learned this the hard way..lost a few buttons and had a few holes)

Annie get your creamcheese on...can you dig it?

For some reason I had a hard time, maybe because the name is so odd getting the correct name of this store. Annie Creamcheese a cute boutique store in Georgetown, Washington DC.  

Wait till you see the killer items I got from this store. Definitely blew my shopping budget for the trip in this store.

The Working Gal..Washington DC Edition

My second day in DC I photo shot my cousin when she came home from work. She just looked too good not to!
Working Gal in the city AND fashionista extrodinaire...what a woman! 

Her belt and skirt are thrifted. Her shoes are awesome! I love the green and the orange colours together.

If I could look like this going to work every day maybe I would have a real 9-5 job too! ha

washington...your national [not mine] capital beckons you

My First day in Washington, was deemed The awesomeness day. As the first drink I ordered, (legally in the states since I had not been back since I reached 21 [two and half years over due...]) was called 'the awesomeness'...and chya...the name did it justice. Friggin drink blew my mind...as well as the whole week. Thus we needed to dub the week with the nickname "week of awesomeness"...yes we realize how original we are.

Can you get over these flowers? Washington DC actually has a spring. I was in heaven. My soul was so euphoric the whole 5 days.

Daffodils are out!

 I made it to DC. Took these photos the day before I left, while I was packing all my awesomely wonderful spring 20 degree weather outfits! Washington actually has green grass and green on the trees in areas, and the daffodils are out all along the hwy! Washington really is such a pretty city. I have yet to see the cherry blossoms, that's on tomorrows agenda!

I'm here for five days. Any one know any indie concerts in DC happening? I know Pepper Rabbit http://www.myspace.com/pepperrabbit were playing in DC a few weeks ago...If you have not heard them, check them out! They're great. (Don't hold it against them that they are the song for the McDonalds commercial ha!) Older brother song is a fav.

a bag with some pop sizzle and fizzle

I had originally named this post "a bag and some pop" but upon looking at it again, I thought it looked rather like "a bag and a some POOP"....no one wants, most people prefer, not to read a blog posting about a bag and some poop...or maybe that would have gotten some attention, and I should have just left it? ha

Mary Poppin's carpet bag, No? It appears like it could just keep going and going and going. If I reach my arm in to it, it might just never stop pulling stuff out [sadly I think my gym stuff is the only articles of even feign interest in it...which is not very]

 While going through my sewing chest of drawers I came across some old fabric from Peach beserk on Queen. 

I went a little crazy...you know how I have a thing for bows, and the rest is magic? No?...something even a fairy godmother would be asking to borrow from my closet!

An ugly day...an ugly time

Spring weekend at the parents house in the country! Cleaning out the gardens (well I took photos, while mom cleaned them), taking dogs (and cats on leash, I'll take a photo next time) on walks around the house. Realizing Spring...NOT my favourite time of year.

The weather is always tricking me with it's warm days and then snow days...and man is the earth ever ugly with all brown and grey.


What's a favourite season of yours? Summer FOR sure is mine. I like winter...if only it were not SO darn long.
