do you like pina coladas?

Dress: Chez Thrift (no alterations needed)
Jacket: Chez Thrift
Necklace: Vintage
Earrings: Queen St.

Do you like pina coladas? And dancing in the rain? I like all of the above.
This dress reminds me of a pina colada. I drank one on the weekend (we thought it was a strawberry margarita...but if you know me at all, I know my margaritas, and that was NO margarita)

This long weekend was awesome. How was yours? I got to spend it in the city with my cousin (who lives too far away in DC for my liking!...although it's a nice vacation destination.) I went to a jay's game (don't ask me who won...I just go for the beer, cheers, and people...we are too far up in the nose bleed seats to see the guys) The weather was beautiful and we spent the day walking around. Weekend was filled with bbq's, summer smells, and designing more jewellery for my weekend show coming up in June! My new line of jewellery will be presented that weekend! totally lime jello (ous)

Tights: Clothing swap
Shoes: Winners
Dress: Thirfted-Chez Thrift
Belt: Chez Thrift
Shrug: Fresh Collective on Queen st.
Purse: Manitoulin Island
Necklace: You've Got Hattitude Jewellery

I wore this outfit yesterday. Am so glad it has finally stopped raining in Toronto. Blargh. I bought an umbrella, ella, ella at the thrift store for 2 dollars, since for the past week it has felt like we are living in the maritimes.

My parents booked a trip to Newfoundland this week...I'm totally lime jello. Has anyone been there? I've heard its like Ireland, which is my dream trip! I want to go there badly. Hopefully me and a girlfriend are road tripping it out to Newfoundland in September, although with these gas prices, don't count on it!

June Bug Jewellery Show

If you've noticed that my blog has been a little lax lately it's because I'm running around with both ends of my candle stick lit!

I've been trying to get enough jewellery built and starting my new jewellery line for this summer, which I'm presenting at the Jewellery show on June 11th and 12th! Less then a month away! I'll give you guys a little sneak peak on my new line of jewels later this week! I'm super impressed with it. You can check out my Jewellery online by clicking here.

I have been vigorously working away on this year's Fashion show fundraiser for Cystic Fibrosis. Last year me and the Lady team raised over $30,000 for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. It was out of this world! You can check out our website www.CFforCF.com by clicking here.
So sorry for the lack of posts in the next coming weeks!

she's still got it

this is my mom

This is mom.
She rocks my ankle socks.
My mother really does embody the epitome of "My mom the style icon" blog. If you have not checked out that blog. You totally should. Click here.
Her jacket is thrifted, button sewn on, and shortened, her skirt is thrifted and altered, her shoes are thrifted, and her necklace of course is a Hatittude.

This is one stylin' maven mom. You might be thinking, I dressed her up just for this shoot...but friends, she does this all on her own. Her outfit for going out for dinner that evening.

See even mom's can be bombshell babes.

watches...gone the way of the dinosaurs?

Pants: American Apparel, Sweater: Clothing Swap, Watch: Winners, Necklace: You've Got Hattitude

Have watches gone the way of the dinosaur? Have they become extinct? I read a newspaper article the other week about how 11 year olds now think watches are "cool" and "novel" , since they're the age of the cell phone. Although at 23 years, I'm just as guilty. I used to pull out my cell phone to get the time. It got to the point though where I was asking others A LOT for what the time was, and having them rifle through their pant pockets or purse for their electronic device...so that I didn't have to go through that mission, sorry friends for using you for the time. After reading that article I went out and bought myself a watch. A cool space age inspired watch? maybe?

Problem: I got over zealous and... it's not the most comfortable watch in the world. It gives my wrist bone a bruise. I guess I have pointy wrist bones? and so now it's just become an accessory...what we don't do for fashion right? Still have to find a comfortable, being the key word, watch.

gettin' my blog on

Today really did prove to be unlucky, friday the 1 to the 3. Blogger had been shut down for a day or two! Oy
Sorry for the lack of posts lately. I have a cold and some really bad ear aches, which makes for typing and regular photo snapping a chore, instead of it's usual awesomeness. So alas I waited till I was well to get my blog on again.
This is my friend Katie
This is my friend Katie. Her style is really unique, and quite different from mine so I had to snap a photo of her hippie, bohemian, groovin' ways. She just got back from Peru, and I was uber excited to see her.

Last weekend she also scored a bunch of us, some tickets to the hillside festival in Guelph this summer summer. Has anyone ever been? It is the best thing of life.

Hillside is a magical realm where you can disappear, wear bare feet, dance (naked if you so were inclined, some actually do!) in the sun, listen to amazing, stellar, fantastical muscians under the green grass stages...but perhaps best of all is their corn on the cob bbq style...if you've been to hillside, you all know what i'm talkin' about...mmmmh

I have not been in a few years, and I cannot wait to go this year. They always have the most epic bands, the best people, and most charming atmosphere. Hillside 2011, here we come

bachelorette pad

My friend just moved in to her first bachelor pad. She's the first one of us to get her own place all to herself. It was definitely neat to go over there for book club this month!

Her and her mom have done such a cute job decorating this tiny place and making it functional. They did a great job. As Caitlin says " in a bachelor, every single thing must have a specific place."
Everything really did have a place. Going around the apartment was the most fun part trying to see what she had come up with to store and decorate everything.

And yes...that is a cupcake tree on top of her fridge. Melt. I want one so bad! My favourite dessert and favourite only thing I bake are french vanilla cupcakes with icing and chocolate chips on top. mmmh

suspenders...no longer a child accessory

Skirt: Thrifted, reworked - Chez Thrift
Shoes: Vintage - Chez Thrift
Cardigan: Thrfited
Shirt: Thrifted - Chez Thrfit
Suspenders: Thrifted Value village
Necklace & Bracelet: You've Got Hattitude hand designed jewellery by me

First off, notice how everything is thrifted in the outfit. Normally I have a few new pieces mixed in with my vintage pieces. I'm no ms. Steffy from Steffysprosandcons.blogspot.com where everything she wears is thrifted! cool eh?

When....you know spring is here, and summer summer is just around the corner, when you're walking down the city streets, and you never want to reach your destination because the sun is beautiful and the weather is awesome...
When....kids are pumping the music with the tops down in their cars, laughing away without a care in the world, because exams are done.

I am loving the weather! Signs of Spring you've noticed?
On another note, Save the Date. Thursday August 25th, 2011 is the CF for CF fashion show made possible by the lady team fundraising group (also known as...me and 13 of my gal friends!)

It's gonna be a friggin blast this year, and I cannot wait! Last year we raised over 30,000 dollars throughout the summer and fashion show for the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

on this planet

Pants: Mens wear, thrifted - Chez Thrift
Cardigan: Thrifted - Chez Thrift
Tank: Winners
Belt: Moms old one
Necklace: You've Got Hattitude hand designed by me Jewellery

Could more worldly events have happened in the last week on this planet?

Will and Kate (what a gorgeous babe she was on friday) are doin' the deed...no longer in sin.
Osama is dead (shudder).
and
the tories in Canada got their majority government, NDP cleaned and for the first time in history the green party has a voice in parliament! Seems like we did the ol' 2 steps back, (conservatives in power), one step forward (elizabeth may got a seat!) dance.

Holy moly good goly. There was so much going on, I didn't have time to blog, or comment or catch up on anything in the fashion industry.

I did though bust my butt this week and last week going to my suppliers and replenished my stock so I can start the new collection of You've got Hattitude Jewels. I'm having a summer summer show and sale on June 11th and 12th at my parents lovely country home! yes there will be sweets and cookies! :)

If you are politically challenged, you can still vote

Tomorrow is voting day in Canada. Here is an easy to read chart on the different party's platforms
click here to view it and for heavens sake YOUTH let's go vote! We, the youth of canada is 3 million strong. Let's scare the pants off of our government and turn up to vote!

Some people keep saying, 'why would we vote? we'll vote when we're older...' but as another person said 'we wouldn't want our parents and grandparents to chose who we date...so why do we let them chose who our government is?'...we pay taxes, we use the transit systems, the roads and hwys, the hospitals, the education systems...so...makes sense to vote? and seriously check out the chart click here. it's SO easy to read.

I did not take politics in university or high school and I did not watch the debates on tv. Really this chart is what saved my butt. If your politically challenged, like me, no reason why you can't still vote. Get informed, READ this
