a little itty cowbow hat
Sweater: Thrifted, Guelph
Shirt: Banana Republic
Shoes: Thrifted, Guelph
Skirt: Thrifted (altered), Bolton, Chez Thrift
Belt: Mama Dunstan
Earrings: Hattitude Jewellery
Headband: Blogger Vancouver Sale
How this outfit came to be Hattified: I started with the headband that I got at the Vancouver blogger sale. This shirt was the only red I had in my wardrobe that I packed from Ontario to Vancouver. I threw on the red shirt, and paired it with polkadot skirt. You know how I love my pattern on patterns.
Why this outfit Works: The polka dot pattern in the shirt, reflects the patterned polka dots in the skirt. The bow around my neck is all I needed. I put on some dangly earrings. Brown tights, brown sweater, brown belt and brown vintage shoes make the outfit neutral. No skirt is complete without a belt.
Another version: Wear it with just a plain red tee shirt, or white shirt. Throw on a Hattitude necklace.
It was quite windy yesterday. We started off going to the Anthropology museum today at the university of British Columbia. Anyone been there? My man friend is super stoked for it. As we watched the bus drive past us, since we were at the wrong stop (we're really starting to get the hang of the transit system...not) we realized that the museum closed early. Silly gooses. We found ourselves at a record store, always a favourite destination and then stumbled into a used DVD store. Isn't it funny our children's generation will never experience the disappointment of going to the movie rental store and the DVD being out? Weird eh? I've never seen The Beach, with Leo. Any good? It's on the agenda tonight for movie watching.

a bow for you, a bow for me, a bow for everyone
Sweater: Boot legger
Skirt: Thrifted, Bolton, Chez Thrift
Belt: H&M
Shirt: Urban Outfitters
Necklace: Hattitude Jewellery
How this outfit came to be Hattified: I started with the blue skirt, paired with the blue top was boring all as one matchy poo outfit. I threw on the skinny mustard belt, because a skirt without a belt is no outfit t'all. The sweater happened to match perfectly to the belt. Thus you have two matchy poo outfits blue and mustards becoming one Hattified outfit. The necklace just tied the whole outfit together and is the beginning of my new summer line :)
What do you think of my new line of jewellery?
Why this outfit works: I think blue and mustard goes famously together. The skinny belt is not over powering and ties in the sweater. The white bows make this outfit springy.
Another version: Wear a plain white t-shirt and a navy braid belt. Don't forget your Hattitude necklace.
It was a warm breeze in Vancouver today. I bought the book Half Blood Blues for book club next month. Has anyone read the book? It's set in the 1940's about a black, german, jazz, musician from Paris.
We seem to be having a theme at book club lately, of Paris during the war years. Last month it was The Paris Wife. Did anyone read that? It was a little slow in the middle, but the beginning and ending were quite good.

a little mustard in my life
Tights: Urban Outfitters
Dress/Skirt: Thrifted, Bolton, Chez Thrift
Top: Urban Outfitters
Sweater: Vintage, Victoria, British Columbia
Necklace/Earrings: Hattitude Jewellery
How this outfit came to be Hattified: I started with the sweater. I had yet to wear this sweater since I bought it in february in Victoria, BC. It just always seemed really hard to wear. I paired it with a neutral cream dress. It was a little boring with just the lace dress, so I added the cream striped top to give me the three patterns, lace, stripes, and block print on the sweater. I still needed the umph factor to make this outfit Hattified, so mustard tights were a must to tie in my sweater.
Why this outfit works: Cream skirt/dress keeps the sweater from being too much. The brown boots give it a grunge and casual look as well as keeping the outfit neutral.
Another version: Try it with grey or black stockings. Lose the shirt, so the skirt is now a dress and maybe put a mustard belt with it instead.
We went to the movie theatre TWICE today. A double feature kind of day when the weather is so crummy (I took these outfit photos on the weekend). Hunger Games, and 21 jump street we saw. I really liked Hunger games. It wasn't out of this world or anything, but I enjoyed it. I think it was played out better in my head, when I read the novels, but doesn't that always happen when they make a novel in to a movie.
Below is a photo my dad sent me today in an email. Good bye winter, hello spring. It's an oldie photo of me and my older brother as little tots.

when I grow up, I wanna be a ballerina
Skirt: Vancouver Blogger sale, via the Doctors closet
Tights: Urban Outfitters
Shirt: Urban Outfitters
Sweater: Thrifted, Guelph
Jacket: Thrfited, Bolton, Chez Thrift
Belt: Mom's
Necklace: Hattitude Jewellery
Bracelets: Hattitude custom charm bracelet
How this outfit came to be Hattified: I got this skirt at the blogger sale two weeks ago. I love the tutu style. I started with the skirt. I wanted to wear the striped shirt with it, paired it with a brown wide belt to split it up. I needed something more then just the pop of colour in the shirt to hattify the outfit, so I paired matching sheer tights with the outfit.
Why this outfit works: I wanted the tights to match the shirt, they have a little pattern in them (hearts) and the boots to grunge it up and casualfy it (is that a word?) and also match the brown belt. The jean jacket really makes the outfit casual. I needed the sweater for warmth but it also adds another texture and layer that I like so much.
Another version: Bare leg it and put it with some flat shoes or wicked wedges, not hiking boots.
We had the best weather this past weekend in Vancouver. We just walked and walked and walked the beaches. When you're on a three month hiatus from your normal home (Ontario) and schedule, it's hard to tell what is the weekend and what is the week day.
I re-watched death at a funeral last night. Has anyone seen that? It is the funniest movie I have seen in quite a long time, but then again the brit's always get me laughing. Go out and rent it or it's on our beloved net flix, the english version. Hi-llarious!
Also I'm going to see the hunger games this afternoon. I'm probably in the movie theatre right now as your reading this, eating my popcorn and grasping the edge of my seat chair because i'm just so gosh darn excited! I cannot wait to see it!

I tried to upload a video of me whipping through the trees, 200 feet above the river going from Blackcomb mountain to Whistler...alas blogger didn't let me, or I just don't have the patience to wait 35 minutes while it uploads a video. Try checking out my Facebook page for the video. It was wild.
